I wonder what our society is turning into these days. Church used to be the most valued entity and now it's just another playground taken over by politicians.
The way I see it this thing called politics is not only a game in which the players involved are those running for presidency or membership in parliament. Rather it has infiltrated every organization and people are willing to to step on each others toes for money while hiding under the veil of bureaucracy.
This week C.C.A.P. Church members of Kanengo congregation went to court and acquired an injunction to stop the authorities of Livingstonia SYNOD ( their headquarters) from transfering there Reverend to a different congregation. This was after they had held a fruitless vigil at the SYNOD offices in Mzuzu.
You wonder what would have driven the congregation to make such a decision. Is the relationship between the members and the their leaders so bad they have to involve the court?
Reverend Chimwemwe Mhango who has served the church in various congregations for 20 yrs since he was ordained was asked to move from the Kanengo and transfer to Euthini a rural area in Mzimba. According to the churches conduct this was seen as a demotion to the Reverend.
During an interview with a Nyasa times reporter, Mhango said that according to the churches practice he wasn't supposed to move unless he had committed an offence, was going to further studies or he was being promoted neither of which were in occurrence.
According to Douglas Chipofya, SYNOD moderator Chimwemwe Mhango ceases to be a Reverend and there is nothing the congregation can do about it because their decision is final.
This then raises the question why would the SYNOD do that? Or are they simply done with him?
